Musician Ozzy Osborne, who needs no introduction, regains control of his health after several years of the shakes, rattles and rolls.
I'm sure we can all be forgiven for thinking that the booze and stuff was the obvious problem with his appearance and behaviour.... well apparently not entirely! He was diagnosed with 'Parkin' Syndrome as he calls it which I believe is mainly tremour that he suffers and is not actually PD. To me the symptoms he suffers are Parkinsonisms and so not dissimilar.
His story in the link below shows that people from all walks of life can get it wrong and just accept things, sometimes living with problems for years without question. If music was his life and I'm sure it was, it will be even more so now as his therapy.
A hospital in the Bronx are using music as a form of therapy to help patients, for instance, Aphasia sufferers would have lost the ability to talk even though they had not lost the power of speech. Through music and teaching them to sing, they can communicate again. Perhaps the most surprising success was to play a rhythm track to a Parkinson's sufferer who had difficulty walking. The constant beat seemed to reduce the effects of the condition and allowed them a more 'normal' mobility.
Lots more research is going into therapies of all kinds but music seems to be the one that has had a profound effects on all kinds of health problems.
Love him or hate him.. Click here for more on Ozzy .... his account and language have been edited in this piece much to my annoyance but it was the best clip to explain all.
