Over the last 10 weeks I have participated in the ‘Positive Care Programme’, which is a 20 weeks course of complimentary therapies and motivational workshops. The benefits in my case, has been a positive experience so far and is teaching me skills and tools for life.
So far I have tried the Alexander Technique, Acupuncture, Healing, Tai Chi, Dru Yoga and Reflexology and several workshops, which have all had positive effects. I am definitely sleeping better but that might also be something to do with the relaxation CD I borrowed as I haven’t managed to stay awake until the end yet… Zzzzzzzzzzzzz!
The weekly session consists of one individual therapy, a group therapy and a workshop of your choice of which I choose from a list.
The individual therapies are any of the following; acupuncture, massage, reflexology, healing, Shiatsu, Indian head massage, Emotional Freedom technique etc
The group therapies are Meditation, Dru Yoga, Tai Chi, Alexander Technique and Therapeutic Art.
The workshops courses are ‘Tools and Skills for Living’, ‘Positive Steps’, ‘Mind, Body and Spirit’ and ‘Being Friends with your Body’ and cover a wide range of subjects with motivational speakers.
The positive Care programme is designed to give attention to the mind, body and spirit, so that over time positive change may be experienced. The programme has been devised for people with long term conditions, including mental health problems. The programme also supports carers.
