I am fortunate that during the last 18 months since I had been diagnosed with Parkinson's, that I have managed to get my meds and symptoms reasonably stable. From the beginning when I was first diagnosed, I wanted to be proactive and so I researched Parkinson’s and all the meds available, then compared them to the meds I was taking. I consulted my neurologist about my concerns about the meds I was on and asked about other drugs that I had read about. He was happy to discuss and offer me the drugs that I wanted. We continue to work together, but no one knows how my meds are working better than I do.
My dose has been recently lowered to lessen certain side effects and some symptoms have worsened but I have found a balance I can cope with. I now feel more in control of Parkinson’s rather than the other way around.
