Holidays for All offer leisure activities and accommodation throughout the UK and abroad for people with sensory and physical impairments, their friends and families.
As a group of the UK’s leading disability charities and specialist tour companies, they are continuously working together to promote equality and accessibility within the disabled market. Holidays or weekend breaks at various Centers and self-catering accommodation, designed with whatever needs are in mind.
The difference from ‘Sandpipers’ to any ordinary hotel is that the guests have their individual medical needs catered for and the same care and attention that they would normally receive at home. This gives regular carers a break or a holiday themselves as staff and volunteers take on their roles when required.
My personal reason to be a volunteer was to try to make a difference in this world by giving something back. It was my first time and not being sure in which capacity I could offer my services, I thought at the very least I could make someone smile! I managed a great deal more than that but it wasn’t all hard work. Fun was had by all with activities and trips out etc. I have made new friends and have learned much about others and about myself.
Guest or Volunteer…. from the great care and attention guests enjoyed and help I received in making my volunteering experience one I should wish to repeat…. I can recommend ‘Sandpipers’ Southport.
The regular staff there were absolutely marvelous and the young volunteers from all over the world that I met and worked alongside were a credit to their parents and their peers. I was humbled by the whole experience and I warmed to the people that I have had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know, some on a personal level.
